Every Hobson kayak is handmade with care in South Wales, and now you can choose from three distinct build options - each designed to meet different needs on the water.
Competition Construction
Our Competition Construction is where performance meets practicality.It’s a lightweight, responsive build designed for paddlers who want a top-quality surf kayak without breaking the bank.Built with the same attention to detail as our premium models, it’s the perfect entry point into the Hobson range.
Features include:
Lightweight composite layup for speed and control
Armour Protection – Add extra reinforcement for £150
Custom Colour Schemes – Available (pricing confirmed at time of order)
Fins – Supplied with 3 plastic TS3 fins on all HP models
Foam Outfitting – All standard outfitting included for the perfect fit
Workshop Custom Outfitting – Available for £50 when collecting your kayak
Optional integrated thigh bracing or T-piece available

The Hobson’s Choice build takes everything we’ve learned from years of custom surf kayak production and combines it into one beautifully finished, performance-focused construction.
It’s become our most popular build for good reason - refined, durable, and stunning to look at.
Each boat in this range comes with several premium features included as standard, offering exceptional value for money.

Armour Protection – Optional, no extra cost
Custom Colour Schemes – Available (pricing confirmed at time of order)
Clear Carbon / Carbon-Kevlar Deck – (+£100)
Fins – Supplied with 3 plastic TS3 fins on HP models
Outfitting – Comes with standard foam outfitting, with the option to upgrade to ergo outfitting at no extra cost
Workshop Custom Outfitting – Included free of charge when collecting your kayak
Limited Edition Finishes – Metallic flakes, detailed graphics, and other premium touches (pricing confirmed at time of order)
Kevlar joining braid for stronger lighter join between hull and deck

For those who want something truly unique, the Limited Edition range represents the best of what Hobson Kayaks can create. We’ll be building a maximum of 10 per year.
Every Limited Edition kayak is built to order, combining our most advanced construction methods with a range of exclusive extras and finishes.

Exclusive layup with full optional Armour Protection included
Ergo outfitting as standard
Padded custom travel bag included
Choice of any finish, colour, or graphic design
Individually numbered and signed by the builder
