When this kayak was designed, the surf kayak market lacked a truly versatile short-performance design. Many compact boats of the era were either unstable, unforgiving, or only came alive in very specific surf conditions.
Vincent Shay set out to change that.
The result was the Reaction - a surf kayak designed to deliver speed, responsiveness, and real surfing performance, while remaining intuitive, stable, and confidence-inspiring for a wide range of paddlers.
Even today, the Reaction remains a remarkably relevant design.
Its combination of fast acceleration, predictable handling, and playful responsiveness makes it just as capable in modern surf as it was when first launched.
